My Chins
Draco was our first chinchilla. We bought him from a Petco about 5 years ago. He is a standard grey and is 5 1/2 years old. He is very assertive and definitely is one of our more roudy chins. Everything is done on His terms, petting, cage cleaning everything. LOL. If he doesn't want you disturbing him, he will definitely let you know! LOL!
Griffin was our second chinchilla. We got him 4 1/2 years ago from a rescue here in CO (The Dust Bath- appropriately named!). He is a hetero ebony and is approximately 6-7 years old. He is my skinny chin that LOVES to run! Their cage is 7ft tall and 5ft wide and when he runs he can make the whole thing shake! No kidding! We recently discovered that he has a slight murmur, but at this point there is nothing to worry about and he is completely healthy other wise.
Gizmo was our third chinchilla. We got him about 2 1/2 years ago from a breeder here in CO that had taken him as a rescue. We believe that he is around 6-7, and probably a standard (he is a bit ligher and has a few white spots than most of the standards I have seen), but don't know for sure. He is a fur chewer, but since we took him in it has gotten much much better. He was by far the easiest chinchilla to introduce into the family. It only took about a week after the quarintine period for him to get along with everyone.
And finally there is Roo. He is a Black Velvet that we got from a local family that could no longer take care of him. He is approximately 4 years old and is a complete cutie. He is one of the favorites at my vets office and they have even taken pictures of him to put in their news letter. We are still attempting to introduce him into the cage with our other three boys. Hopefully we'll accomplish that soon.
